  <title>December Get Together</title>
  <link>http://www.41retro.co.uk/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=44</link>
<description>New gallery opened, unfortunately not all the pictures have come out that well including Pete&#039;s, I could blame the camera but it was probably the operator, so apologies to people I have missed. Hopefully anybody else who has photos please send to me or add to the gallery yourself. A good day but not as good as Don&#039;s, it is not everyday you get to have a beer with 2 people you thought were dead, that is a result.

Hi Everyone, just so that you have plenty of notice, the December Get Together will be on December 3rd at the Bell, starting at 1300 ish, this coincides with the rest of the Jag World so everyone that wants to can go between both parties. Pass it on to those who don&#039;t visit the site very regularly, and email those that you are in contact with, that way we&#039;ll get a brilliant turn out.

regards

  <title>Coltishall Memorial Garden</title>
  <link>http://www.41retro.co.uk/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=39</link>
<description>New pictures added in the Memorial gallery, we also found a picture of Shutty that we felt appropriate to add and Ian Nelson passed on a picture of a memorial bench to Greg Noble that he spotted whilst on holiday at Beachy Head.

On the 22 November 2010 at 10:30 a new Memorial stone was unveiled by Air Marshal Chris Harper, this will form the centre piece of a new memorial garden at RAF Coltishall. There was also a dedication of 6 new cherry trees as a rememberance to the bus crash, these were to replace those which made way for the prison. Benches have been placed by the memorial which are to represent the 4 Jaguar Squadrons. A good ceremony that was well supported by many ex Colt guys. As to be expected in true military tradition, the humour was provided for this solemn occasion by a Tornado providing in an impressive flypast that set off numerous car alarms. A good service and a nice memorial which is located just past the school on the way down towards the Officers Mess.

Hopefully see you all at the Bell on the 4th Dec

  <title>Coltishall Re-Opening</title>
  <link>http://www.41retro.co.uk/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=36</link>
  <description>Updated 8/9/11

Please see latest e-mail from John Welton for latest information regarding attempts to find a role for RAF Coltishall.

Regards Pete &amp; Tiny

As many of you will now know from the local press and TV coverage, The bid by TAG Aviation to purchase the former RAF Coltishall airfield and technical site has been withdrawn. It appears that when the initial funding fell through, efforts to refinance the project also came to nothing despite a series of convoluted and protracted negotiations.

Clearly this is extremely disappointing for all of us who had high hopes for a new dawn for the station. Some of us invested considerable time and effort into the project and judging by the number of you who expressed interest in employment with TAG (over 120 people), the thought of working at the former base was very appealing.

Whilst the TAG bid is now history, the Ministry of Justice has started negotiations with the next bidder in order of preference. I am not able to name this group but perhaps there may still be scope for at least some forms of employment opportunities if this bid is successful. I therefore suggest that I retain your details on my database and your CVs in my file for a while longer in case this is so. Should any opportunities arise, having your details easily to hand would give me an advantage should I be approached by the new preferred bidder. I will not pass on your details to anyone without your express permission. Nor will I pass on information to any third party. If you would rather that I remove you from the database and shred your CV please let me know. If I do not hear from you I will assume you are happy with my proposal.

Thank you for your support and interest. I am only sorry that we shall not be part of a grand scheme that had so much promise. Having been offered a role, I for one was particularly looking forward to working with many good friends, former colleagues and making many new ones.

If I hear any more about future possibilities I will be in touch. However please do not encourage anyone else to send in their CVs at this stage.

Finally please accept my best wishes for your future success.

Regards,

  <title>Budgie Burgess RIP</title>
  <link>http://www.41retro.co.uk/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=32</link>
  <description>Updated 20 Nov 09

Budgies funeral went as well as can be expected with a church full to the brim and people having to stand outside as there was no more room inside. He would have appreciated the number of people there to give him a good send off. On his last day in hospital Tam went to see him and even then he hadn&#039;t lost his sense of humour and managed to give Tam the correct amount of abuse which you would have expected. A bloody good friend to the end.

Updated 9 Nov 09

I have just received a phone call from Tony Cable to inform us of the Funeral arrangements for Budgie. His funeral will be at Horsham Saint Faiths Crematorium on 17 Nov 09 at 1530. Flowers from Family only, and donations if you wish to make one to Cancers Research, via the Funeral Director. There will be refreshments at Elm Farm at Horsham Saint Faiths afterwards and all are invited to attend.

Please spread the word so that as many of the guys can attend if they wish.

Pete

Updated 6 Nov 09

It is with the greatest sadness I write to tell you all that our good mate Budgie Burgess has lost his battle against Cancer and died at 1930 on 5 Nov 09. Budgie you will be missed by us all, it was a pleasure to have known you. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Julie and the rest of their family.

I will update the site as and when I get any funeral arrangements passed on to me.

best regards to you all
